Utilizing a new technology exclusive to Continental, the ExtremeContact DW has an asymmetrical tread pattern, continuous center rib and beveled tread blocks designed to provide superior cornering performance and improved steering response.

Continuous center ribs reduce road noise while providing consistent contact between the tread and the road to control longitudinal forces during braking. 

Deeper outer circular and lateral grooves and notched shoulder blocks combine to provide better handling and evacuate more water from under the tread, reducing the risk of hydroplaning and increasing driving confidence.

The ExtremeContact DW tire features performance indicators. A visible "DW" indicates that the tire has sufficient tread depth for dry and most wet roads. Once the "W" is worn out, the remaining "D" means that the tire has adequate tread depth for dry conditions only.

Inside the tire are two spiral-wound steel belts with nylon plies for better stability and durability at higher speeds, as well as increased comfort.

Like all summer tires, the ExtremeContact DW is not designed to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, snow or ice.
